Purchasing Officer (AC5174)

Job Description:

Our client is a leading wholesale distributor for their automotive range of products, with 7 distribution centres and 2 manufacturing sites situated around Australia. Due to recent growth, they are seeking to appoint an experienced Purchasing Officer to their purchasing team.

Based at their South side Head Office / Distribution Centre and reporting to the National Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Officer will have responsibility in optimizing stock across all warehouses within the Group.

Key tasks and responsibilities for this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure duties are completed within defined timeframes
  • Place local and import purchase orders using ERP system
  • Arrange inter/intra company transfers to optimize stock within the group
  • Expedite purchase orders and maintain delivery dates
  • Report, identify and expedite critical stocks
  • Create new part numbers and maintain supplier pricing
  • Provide notification of price increase, analyze and report to management
  • Provide support to the sales team nationwide
  • Report and develop plans for SLOB stock
  • Monitor wholesale customer buying patterns to ensure adequate stock hold
  • Identify areas for cost-savings and increased service levels
  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery through pro-active engagement with suppliers
  • Liaise with shipping agents to ensure container schedules are on time
  • Oversee import documentation and receiving of local and imported goods
  • Cover for other purchasing staff on leave or absent
  • Assist with stock take
  • Investigate discrepancies and stock issues and bring to close
