Technicians x 2 – Weipa – Attractive hourly rate + accommodation + ADVENTURE (AC5104)

Job Description:

Our client is a family owned and operated company, specialising in vehicle repairs and parts supply for all makes and models, including commercial and fleet vehicles. With a large modern workshop and the largest parts holding on the Cape, they have an immediate need for 2 Qualified Technicians to join them in their North Queensland adventure playground!

Based in Weipa, you will work with a small team with old fashioned values, who seek to provide customers with the best service experience possible. The business focuses largely on the repair of 4wd vehicles, as typically that is what is required to navigate the challenging terrain in the area. In addition to its repair and servicing work, the company also operates and assists with vehicle recovery and is an ARB stockist.

The successful candidate must be a trade qualified Mechanic, with a very good understanding and level of experience with 4wd vehicles. Experience with the Toyota product would be fantastic, but other major brands such as Nissan and Ford are also welcome. You will be joining a close-knit team who regularly socialise and undertake adventures in to the Cape, so a jovial nature and an adventurous spirit will go a long way!

On offer is an attractive hourly rate plus accommodation assistance and annual leave. This role is a full time position, based in Weipa, it is not FIFO.

Weipa is the gateway to the western Cape York region, which offers visitors an exciting mix of beautiful beaches, wilderness adventures, fabulous fishing and rich cultural heritage. There’s no shortage of things to do in the area, and most of them involve outdoor activities and stunning surroundings. The Cape is home to some of Australia’s best fishing spots. You can catch queenfish, grunter, barramundi, salmon, cod, snapper, mangrove jack, trevally and spanish mackerel, only to name some more common species. Weipa is a little over 800km from Cairns, via the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR). It’s a good idea to check the condition of the road prior to travelling, especially during the wet season when heavy rain can cause it to close. A daily Qantaslink air service operates from Weipa to Cairns, from where you can connect with southern flights. Weipa Airport is located just 15 minutes from the township. There are also several charter airlines servicing Weipa which are available for passenger and freight transport. Crocodiles inhabit the waterways in and around Weipa, so it is important to maintain vigilance when around bodies of water.
