Our client, a multi-franchise vehicle distributor / retailer who is based in Port Moresby and has dealerships situated throughout Papua New Guinea, is presently seeking candidates for consideration for the role of National Parts Sales Representative. This dealer group has the rights to a well-rounded compliment of franchises and is in an excellent position for growth within the PNG marketplace. The computer system in use at this group is Titan and the role will work closely with the Group General Manager, with the primary focus of the role being to market our clients parts solutions to trade and retail customers throughout PNG. Automotive operations in PNG are for the most part, conducted by operators who wear both the distributor and retailer hats.
This group offers a very wide array of vehicles and equipment, much wider than what you would typically see under “one roof” in the Australian or New Zealand market. Where operations in those markets are quite segmented, this organisation covers everything from passenger to light to heavy commercial vehicles, earthmoving equipment, marine engines, motorcycles, power generation devices, construction equipment, tyres, lubricants and more. In addition to this, they also have associated business units who focus on wheels and tyres, paint and panel services, and fabrication, both in terms of repairs and manufacturing. Because their operations are so varied, they possess the ability to offer a wide range of solutions to their customers and to the wider PNG market in general. They are in effect, a one stop shop.
The focus of this particular role however, will be to market the parts solutions that the company can provide. With a lot of resource and commercial operators conducting their own in-house service / maintenance activities, they frequently need to quickly source reliable and cost effective parts, so that they can maintain maximum availability and useability of their assets. This is where our client, and you, come in.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate previous parts rep experience within a similar position, preferably one that involved a mixture of genuine and aftermarket products, with a strong heavy commercial vehicle flavour. You must live and breath sales and be able to source, cultivate and close new business opportunities.
